Information & Communications Officer

£21,952 per annum pro rata for 18.5 hours/week (FTE 0.50)

VODA’s role is to support, inform and represent North Tyneside’s voluntary and community sector. Good communication is vital to the success of our operations and we are pleased to be able to offer this rare opportunity to the right candidate.

As VODA’s Information and Communications Officer you will be responsible for producing high quality publications including our quarterly VODA news and our Annual Report in addition to information sheets, posters, leaflets and press releases. You will be responsible for updating and maintaining the content of VODA’s website (WordPress). You will be adept at using social media, in particular Facebook and Twitter, and be able to quickly adapt to new communications channels as they become available.

You will be able to create new copy using a wide range of sources, and you will be able to identify and extract key points from published material and paraphrase accordingly. Accuracy and an eye for detail is a must. In addition, a strong sense of design and some knowledge of infographics will help you to engage with your target audiences.

You will develop good working relationships with your colleagues, the community and the press to ensure a continuous flow of information relevant to the sector.

You should have at least a basic understanding of marketing principles and their practical application, including the use of platforms such as MailChimp and the principles of data protection.
