If you are looking for a varied, rewarding and different voluntary role, the Rising Sun Farm Trust Ltd is currently appointing new trustees and directors to help shape the future of the urban-fringe farm and its commercial trading company.

Located in Wallsend, the Rising Sun Farm is run by a charitable trust which has been established for 28 years, with the aim of providing a range of social, environmental and economic benefits to the local area. The Trust, which owns the Rising Sun Farm Trading Company Ltd, farms 175 acres of land which includes pigs, poultry, sheep, a livery, a community food house and a Day Care Centre for adults with additional needs and learning disabilities.

The Trading Company employs six permanent staff plus casual workers and volunteers and has an annual turnover of circa £250,000. The Farm and its Trading Company has recently undergone expansion and are now looking to recruit a number of trustees and directors who can shape and oversee the management of the Farm’s services, events and trading operations at this exciting time.

Trustees currently meet four times a year and you will be joining an experienced and varied board.
