Job vacancy at Family Gateway: Young Persons’ Volunteer Coordinator

 

 

 

Family Gateway is a local North-east child poverty charity that aims to improve life chances for children by working with whole families and supporting the development of enterprising solutions to local problems.

The charity is keen to develop its youth volunteering programme aimed at encouraging young people to take part in social action and as part of the programme development are seeking to appoint a Young Persons’ Volunteer Co-ordinator. This post has been made possible through a grant from the Virgin Money Foundation #Iwill Youth Social Action fund.

In order to be successful you will be experienced and qualified in working with young people and in helping them develop their skills and knowledge. You will support them to develop a range of social action projects and facilitate the implementation, promotion and evaluation of their projects, also and importantly helping the young people to capture the new skills and knowledge gained through their work.

You will be enthusiastic, creative, flexible, patient and tenacious with a genuine passion for supporting young people in disadvantaged communities to be the best they can be and to change their communities for the better.

Volunteering your time is a great way to make a difference, learn new skills, take on fresh challenges and meet new people.

There are volunteering opportunities to suit people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities – no matter how much or little time you have to give.

Find out about the range of opportunities available in North Tyneside at VODA’s Volunteer Recruitment Fair, which takes place on Saturday 22 September, 10am to 3pm at YMCA North Tyneside in North Shields. This free event is your chance to meet a variety of organisations which involve volunteers in their work, with everything from helping school children with their reading, supporting people with sight loss, befriending, conservation and much more. Organisations attending include:

  • Alzheimer’s Society
  • RNIB (Royal National Institution of Blind People)

This is a free, drop-in event – there is no need to book. VODA staff will also be on hand to discuss any aspects of volunteering and to tell you about our own volunteering projects.
