The Linskill and North Tyneside Community Development Trust is an independent registered Charity (charity no: 11191243) and Company Limited by Guarantee (Company No: 04827255). It was established in July 2003 to complete a community asset transfer of the Linskill Centre, based at North Shields, from North Tyneside Council. The centre was due to be demolished by the Council; however a community campaign was raised to save it. The Trust completed the asset transfer in April 2006 and has successfully developed into a thriving community centre that serves the communities of North Tyneside. It is one of the largest asset transfers in the Country and the only asset transfer in North Tyneside.
The Trust has successfully converted the centre into a financially self-sustainable community facility, gradually securing capital investment to improve the facilities and the Trust has recently undergone a major refurbishment of the centre in 2017. The centre attracts over 10,000 visits per month, has an OFSTED registered Nursery for 76 children per day, a new commercial kitchen and cafe, two large halls and licensed bar for events, 10 community rooms allowing for a comprehensive range of community activity for all ages and 30 permanent tenants based at the centre offering support services across North Tyneside.
The Trust are seeking a chartered accountant to join its existing Board of Directors in realising its charitable objectives, strategic priorities and gaining financial means to deliver the work that it is passionate about.
The role is unpaid, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Board meetings are once every six weeks and finance sub group meetings quarterly, mainly in the evenings. Some day time meetings may be required. The successful candidate will be asked to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
