The Northern England Region of the RSPB is looking to recruit a volunteer to assist with the administration of its school visits programme.
Based in Newcastle, the successful volunteer will be required for a commitment of 8 hours per week in summer and 3 hours per week in winter, mainly in term time.
Duties will include helping to make bookings for school visits and inputting school and youth group booking details into a database, along with inputting evaluations when the schools have visited and producing reports from the database. You will be supported to analyse the school visit data and contribute to writing an annual report on school visits. You will also help to prepare material for use in outreach work. This helps the RSPB to connect thousands of children in the North of England to nature at six of its reserves, and deliver outreach to many schools not close to reserves while delivering a high standard of customer service to schools.
You will receive training in data protection and safeguarding, as well as experience in using a database and analysing data in Excel. You will have the opportunity to attend a regional training day to learn more about how one of Europe’s largest conservation charities is run. You will also be able to visit at least one reserve in the course of the school year, to see a school visit in action and understand how your role is contributing to our mission to save nature. In addition you will be a valuable member of a professional team supporting children to learn about and engage with nature.
