North Shields High Street Heritage Action Zone newsletter – Issue 2

An Ambition for North Shields has produced the second issue of their North Shields High Street Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) newsletter, which well worth a read to keep up to date with what is happening in North Shields.

The newsletter includes an update on the HAZ Cultural Consortium, of which VODA is the lead partner, supporting a programme of work that enables staff and volunteers to further develop their digital skills whilst working together on an inclusive and engaging project

Staff and volunteers from the North Shields Heritology Project and Remembering The Past have collaborated with local musicians, photographers and drone operators to produce five short films exploring everything from the importance of Howard Street in the abolition of slavery, to imagining the life of a servant following the unexpected discovery of an ex-servants’ quarters in Northumberland Square.

The newsletter also includes:

  • A reminder of what the scheme is all about
  • Introducing Ian McCaffery, Heritage Action Zone Officer
  • Fascinating discoveries at 18 Northumberland Square
  • HAZ public realm update
  • Creative projects underway
