Community Fundraiser for Meadow Well Connected Meadow Well Connected is a charity that provides a safe, welcoming place where local residents from across the Chirton and Riverside neighbourhoods can come and meet new people and gain new skills to help the local community to thrive. We have 3 main aims: ?ۢ Community Involvement by developing a sense of ownership of Meadow Well Connected amongst local residents through creative engagement, e.g. events, outreach work and community led activities.
?ۢ Skills Development by providing inspiration and support for local people who wish to develop new skills and new ways of enriching their lives.

We are looking for enthusiastic and outgoing people to help us fund raise for our charity to support our running costs.
Minimum time commitment: visit a range of community venues / events / retail areas every 4 weeks (approx.2-3 hr/ month depending on how many venues are available)
Where: Your local area, locations across North Tyneside and Newcastle
Duration: Ongoing Main tasks/ activities of the role When you join our team of staff and volunteers, who are crucial to the running of our charity, they will support you to work in community venues, at events and retail areas you are comfortable with. To ensure you follow charity fundraising regulations, the donations from your boxes will need banking after every event venue you attend. A member of staff will jointly count the contents of your collection box and record the income on our online recording system. This can all be done in a time to suit your other commitments. Simple!

Meadowwell Connected is a community hub and extensive garden which facilitates and supports our residents to take charge of their lives and have the power to make the decisions that matter to them and their community. We provide a safe, welcoming space where people of all ages can come together to build positive relationships and learn new skills.

We work to achieve these through a range of community-led interventions from our large community building and gardens. Current services include:-
Digitally Connected – a free to use, supported Digital suite enabling people to gain core digital and employability skills.
Community Garden – our 5 acre community garden which offers opportunities to learn horticulture skills for people of all abilities; growing produce for use in our café and for sale to local people; an apiary providing honey and learning opportunities on bee-keeping and an emphasis on permaculture and connecting people of all ages with nature.
Connected Kids Club – our affordable after-school club which is available to local children aged 8-13 and includes a meal and access to lots of activities. We offer a ‘Walking Bus’ service from local primary schools to enable children to attend safely.
Joinery Workshop – we have an 8 station fully equipped joinery workshop where we support students from Alternative Education Provision and adults with learning differences to gain joinery skills and confidence.
Supported volunteer programme – providing volunteering opportunities across our provision with support from our Volunteer Coordinator.
Well Together & PAUSE [Problematic Alcohol Use … Say Enough!] – our health and wellbeing programme which includes a specialised service to support clients with alcohol issues.
Thrive – is our adult day care service which provides support for adults with additional needs to learn new skills and have fun.
Community Café – our onsite café offering home cooked food at affordable prices.
The Bay Food Bank are located on our site and we aim to work positively with them to support local people.
We also have a number of permanent tenants and a range of rooms for sessional hire.
What skills do I need?
Who are we looking for? We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing people who have: ?ۢ Good communication skills and an ability to liaise with people in a friendly and approachable manner. ?ۢ Confident in talking to people about our charity. ?ۢ An ability to use your own initiative. ?ۢ Available for a few hours each month.
