Digital Volunteer
Friends Action North East was established in 2004 in Newcastle Upon Tyne. We are a local charity that supports and champions friendship for adults with a learning disability and/or autism. One of the things that we address in our model of supporting friendship is to reduce the impact that social isolation can have on people’s physical and mental health. Sustainable friendships and community connections can lower the risks associated with loneliness.
Digital Volunteer
Supporting all aspects of IT from data input, updating Friends Action North East’s website, posting on FANE’s social media platforms to campaigning for digital inclusion for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. This role can be tailored to people’s time, commitment, and expertise. Volunteers will work from home in this role.
The Digital volunteer’s role involves updating the FANE website including the ‘What’s on Page’ taking photographs, marketing via designing posters, uploading images of recent events on social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram etc. As a volunteer you must ask permission from friendship finders before taking their photographs and uploading them on any social media platforms. When uploading content(s) for Friends Action North East you must write content in accessible language. As a volunteer you must remain professional and use appropriate and accessible language.
Responsibilities:
Attend Online FANE induction training including general induction, safeguarding induction and Health and Safety induction
Read Friends Action North East’s policies and procedures
Update the FANE website including the ‘What’s on Page’
Design posters for FANE online groups and events
Make posts for FANE’s social media platforms
Input content onto the FANE website into accessible language

Availability Details
This role can be tailored to people’s time, commitment and expertise. Volunteers will work from home in this role. With support the volunteer will need to be able to work under their own initiative and communicate effectively with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Friends Action North East team
