FODI would love to welcome a new Treasurer to support the charity.

Purpose of the role

To manage the finances of the organisation and ensure the board of trustees are fully informed of the financial position of the charity

Description of tasks

- Paying bills, salary etc. as directed by the board 

- Entering expenses, and payments received into Quickbooks

- Preparing monthly financial statements for the board

- Preparation of annual accounts & circulating to relevant bodies

- Reconciling petty cash and bank accounts each month

- Maintaining paper records of expenses and receipts.

About FODI Friends of the Drop-In for Asylum Seekers and Refugees

FODI aims to improve the mental health and well-being of the asylum-seeking and refugee community of Sunderland. In doing so we hope to lessen their social isolation and promote their integration into the wider community, by supporting and extending the activities of the weekly and fortnightly Drop-Ins and weekly Women’s Group. We work in partnership with other charities and statutory organisations to achieve this.

What skills do I need?

- Basic bookkeeping qualification or relevant experience would be helpful but not essential.

- Knowledge of Quickbooks would be helpful, but not essential.

Training will be given.

Training and support:

- Induction / Overview of the organisation and background to asylum seekers in Sunderland.

- Use of Quickbooks

- Health & safety

- Any other in-house / external training deemed relevant

10 hours per month (approximately) The potential volunteer will also be asked to sign a disclaimer stating that they know of no legal reason why they cannot act as a trustee.
