Thomas Wall Trust

The Thomas Wall Trust offers grants of up to £5,000 to UK-registered charities running projects that help disadvantaged adults develop communication skills essential for employment, self-confidence, and life opportunities. The Trust prioritises projects supporting people experiencing multiple deprivation or facing significant barriers to work, including women, refugees, and those with physical, mental, or learning disabilities.

Successful projects must help beneficiaries gain at least one accredited vocational qualification during delivery or within two months of completion. Grants can cover project costs, including pro-rata staffing and operational expenses, and may be awarded for up to three years with satisfactory annual reviews. Match-funded or self-sustainable projects are particularly encouraged.

Eligibility:

  • UK-registered charity, operating for at least three years

  • Annual turnover between £25,000 and £500,000

  • Projects designed to equip disadvantaged adults (18+) with communication skills for employment

Funding is not available for:

  • Organisations with political or lobbying objectives

  • Capital costs (land, buildings, construction)

  • Charities outside the UK, subsidiaries, or hospitals

Application process: Two-stage process:

  1. Expression of Interest: Submit basic contact details and project outline.

  2. Project Plan: Successful applicants provide a detailed project plan, budget, financial accounts, and relevant policies.

Next funding round: Applications are open for the March 2026 meeting, with a Stage One deadline of Monday 22 December 2025.
