Young Persons’ Co-production Workers vacancies

VODA is recruiting for two Young Persons’ Co-production Workers, one on a full time and one on a part time basis.

VODA is a North Tyneside-based charity that believes in the power of volunteers and community organisations to change people’s lives for the better. We are pleased to be able to offer this exciting opportunity to develop new and exciting areas of work in close partnership with young people, the voluntary sector and statutory partners.

The successful candidate will work closely with young people in North Tyneside to design and deliver activities that aim to improve the mental health and wellbeing of their peers and their local communities. Through their involvement in this work, young people will develop their skills, confidence, ambitions, connections and sense of purpose.

The successful candidates will:

  • be able to adopt an approach to working that shares power and responsibility with young people so that, rather than doing things for or to young people, you are doing things with them.
  • be able to acknowledge and build on young people’s individual experiences, strengths and skills, viewing lived experience of mental health challenges as an asset rather than a weakness.
  • have experience of direct work with young people in a community and/or health setting and have a good understanding of factors impacting on the health and wellbeing of young people and communities across North Tyneside.
  • have the ability to listen to and communicate effectively with young people, facilitate group activity and nurture successful partnership working with external agencies.

You will work closely with colleagues at Barnardos The Base and Phoenix Detached Youth Project in the delivery of this role.

Two posts:

  • £24,792 per annum for 37 hours/week (FTE 1.00)
  • £24,792 per annum pro rata for 21 hours/week (FTE 0.57)

Closing date for completed applications: Friday noon, 3 December 2021
