Baily Thomas Charitable Fund

The Baily Thomas Charitable Fund provides grants to support organisations working with people with learning disabilities across the UK.

Grant Programmes

The Fund operates two grant streams:

General Grant Programme – For applications of £9,000 and above. Applications are considered at meetings held in March, June, and November.

Small Grant Programme – For applications under £9,000, with awards up to a maximum of £5,000. These are considered monthly by the Chair of Trustees outside of regular meetings.

What They Fund

Grants are awarded for capital and revenue costs, specific projects, and general running or core costs. Grant amounts start from £250 and depend on the purpose, total funding requirement, and potential sources of other funds.

Application Deadlines (for grants £9,000+)

  • 31 December – for the March meeting
  • 31 March – for the June meeting
  • 31 August – for the November meeting

Late submissions are not permitted. Applicants are encouraged to submit as soon as possible rather than waiting for the deadline.

Important Notes

  • The Trustees will not consider more than one application from an organisation at any meeting
  • Further applications will not normally be considered for at least two years after a successful grant (one year if unsuccessful)
  • All applications may be subject to independent review
  • Ensure references are submitted promptly to avoid delays

How to Apply

All applications are made through the online application form, regardless of whether applying for a general or small grant.

Visit the Baily Thomas Charitable Fund website to check eligibility criteria and submit your application.
