North Tyneside VODA

Could you help strengthen communities across North Tyneside? We’re looking for new Trustees to join the North Tyneside VODA Board and help shape the future of the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector. We have opportunities for both General Trustees and a Finance Trustee. If you’re passionate about supporting local communities and want to use your skills to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you. The commitment is just 2–4 hours every two months, with Board meetings held in person at VODA approximately five times a year. Interested? Lingoocial CIC

Lingoocial CIC is seeking 3–5 Non‑Executive Directors to join its Board as the organisation grows. The CIC works to make language learning more accessible and sustainable in local communities, including sign language and English as a second language, through volunteer‑led study groups and a low‑cost companion app in development. Board members play a key role in shaping strategy, supporting fundraising and trading income, and ensuring Lingoocial delivers its social purpose. Someone Cares

Someone Cares is seeking trustees to support its transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). Trustees help shape the charity’s strategic direction, oversee governance, and ensure it continues providing vital support to people affected by abuse.

This voluntary role is open to anyone committed to making a difference, whether or not they have previous trustee experience. Skills in strategic planning, finance, governance, or fundraising are welcome, and trustees work collaboratively with the management team to maintain high standards of transparency, accountability, and safeguarding. The Old Low Light

The Old Low Light Heritage Centre, managed by The Net North Shields, is seeking new trustees to join its board. This established charity provides a vibrant community hub with a café, heritage gallery, event space, and outdoor areas, hosting talks, workshops, exhibitions, and music events. Trustees help protect the historic building, support community activities, and guide the charity’s future development. First-time trustees are welcome, with particular interest in those with experience in fundraising, marketing, event management, or digital media. Remembering The Past

Remembering The Past is seeking new trustees to help guide its work recording, preserving and sharing local people’s life stories. Based at the Linskill Centre, the volunteer-led organisation works to reduce social isolation among older people while creating a valuable archive of North Tyneside’s heritage. The charity is particularly interested in hearing from people with experience in communications, oral history, archives or fundraising, although previous trustee experience is not required. Independent Advocacy North East (IANE)

Independent Advocacy North East (IANE) is seeking Trustees to join its Executive Committee and help guide the organisation forward. The charity welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, particularly those with lived experience of disability, mental health issues, minority communities, or supporting vulnerable older people. Trustees should have strategic vision, creativity, and the ability to commit time to board meetings, training and occasional fundraising. North Tyne Youth (NTY)

North Tyne Youth is looking for new trustees to support its work with young people aged 8–18 in rural north-west Northumberland. Trustees meet every 6–8 weeks, mostly online, and help guide the charity’s direction and decision-making. No previous trustee experience is needed. NTY welcomes anyone passionate about youth engagement, especially those with skills in governance, HR, finance, fundraising or marketing. US Active

US Active, a local charity using physical activity to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 12–25, is seeking a new Fundraising Committee Chair. This role offers the chance to make a real difference to young people across Tyne and Wear. Since 2016, US Active has supported over 700 young people to build confidence, resilience and better mental health through physical activity.

All Wheel Drive Response North East

All Wheel Drive Response North East (AWDRNE) is seeking new volunteer Trustees to join its board and help guide the charity’s growth. The charity provides practical support during severe weather, emergencies and community events, as well as free First Aid Awareness sessions for families and groups across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Cleveland.

Trustees will help shape strategy, plan activities, and ensure the charity operates safely and effectively. No formal qualifications are required, but skills or interest in finance, fundraising, safeguarding, HR, legal or governance are especially welcome. Full induction, ongoing support and optional VODA trustee training are provided. Meetings are friendly, inclusive and usually held quarterly, in person or online. Read more here.
