Who are Newcastle Fighters Academy CIC?
Founded in 2018, Newcastle Fighters Academy CIC was established by Directors Connor and Marianne to create a combat sports training environment that is welcoming, inclusive and accessible to everyone.
The organisation provides training opportunities for children, young people and adults, creating a safe and supportive space where people can develop skills, build confidence and feel part of a team. While many members choose to compete, participation is open to everyone, regardless of experience or ambition.
At the heart of Newcastle Fighters Academy is the belief that “we are all one”. The organisation welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds, faiths, genders and sexual orientations, ensuring everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
Holistic Support from VODA
Newcastle Fighters Academy first approached VODA for support with its funding plans. Following an initial meeting, VODA identified additional opportunities to strengthen the organisation through an organisational health check and governance support.
VODA provided advice on potential funding opportunities and facilitated networking connections with North Tyneside Council, helping the organisation explore new avenues for sustainability and growth.
To further strengthen the CIC’s foundations, VODA’s Governance Advisor, Rebecca Williams, provided guidance on essential policies and offered detailed feedback on several policy drafts. The organisation was also signposted to a range of online and face-to-face learning opportunities, including trustee training delivered by Rebecca.
This combination of funding, governance and training support helped Newcastle Fighters Academy develop the knowledge, policies and connections needed to continue growing and serving its community.
