Who is Fiesta Whitley Bay?

Fiesta Whitley Bay is a constituted community group dedicated to bringing people together through positive, inclusive events that benefit the local community.

Its seasonal events feature a variety of stalls, entertainment and activities, creating opportunities for local people to connect, share information, support local businesses, and build stronger community relationships. The events provide welcoming spaces where people of all ages can socialise, learn about local services and enjoy community-led activities.

How VODA Supported Fiesta Whitley Bay

As Fiesta Whitley Bay continued to grow, the management committee sought support to strengthen its organisation and explore future funding opportunities.

VODA recommended an initial organisational health check to review the group’s current practices and identify areas for development. The review highlighted several opportunities to strengthen governance, volunteering and organisational sustainability.

The VODA team provided tailored Governance, Funding and Volunteer Centre support to help the group build strong foundations for future growth.

Support provided

  • Access to online and face-to-face training sessions
  • Promotion of volunteer opportunities through VODA’s Volunteer Centre
  • Support with policy development and organisational processes
  • A bespoke trustee training session for the management committee
  • Guidance on funding opportunities and support with funding applications
  • Advice on corporate volunteering opportunities

The Outcome

Through VODA’s holistic support, Fiesta Whitley Bay has strengthened its governance, policies and working practices, helping the organisation develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to support its future ambitions.

The support has enabled the committee to take a proactive approach to organisational development, ensuring it remains effective, efficient and transparent as it continues to grow and deliver valuable community events across Whitley Bay.
