Clothworkers Foundation

The Clothworkers’ Foundation offers ongoing capital grants to UK‑registered charities, community interest companies and other not‑for‑profit organisations to support projects that benefit disadvantaged or marginalised people and communities.

Who can apply
UK charities, CICs and other registered not‑for‑profits (including special schools) with an annual income under £10 million may apply. Projects must benefit people within one or more of the Foundation’s priority areas, such as disability and mental health, racial inequalities, homelessness, economic disadvantage, young people facing disadvantage, older people, domestic abuse, LGBT+ communities, substance misuse and prison rehabilitation. At least 50 per cent of those benefiting from the project must fall into one or more of these groups.

What we fund
Grants support capital projects, including:

  • Buildings (purchase, construction, renovation, refurbishment)

  • Equipment and fixtures (including digital technology and specialist therapeutic equipment)

  • Vehicles (such as minibuses, though total funding for new vehicles may be limited)

  • Digital infrastructure (websites, apps, databases and other technology that enhances access and service delivery)

Grant size varies depending on the project and organisation, with small and large capital awards considered on their merits.

How to apply
Applications are accepted at any time. Organisations start by completing an eligibility quiz on the Foundation’s website to access the online application form. Decisions are typically made on a rolling basis.

For full guidance and to apply, visit the Clothworkers’ Foundation Open Grants page.
