The Jackie Haq Fund: Community Foundation

The Jackie Haq Fund at the Community Foundation focuses on supporting small grassroots community organisations that have collective action at their core. The Fund supports organisations working in Tyne and Wear or Northumberland, helping to address any of the following:

  • domestic violence, especially against women and children
  • Fuel and food poverty
  • racism and disadvantage
  • mental health/suicide prevention and/or families affected by suicide
  • carers
  • social isolation

Organisations are invited to apply for a grant of between £1,000 and £1,500 for activities which support the specified fund areas. Organisations that have an annual income of £100,000 or less will be prioritised, as the Fund’s focus is small grassroot organisation.

Applications for project, capital, running, and core costs are welcome.

The Fund will not support any request for funding for items that are deemed to be the responsibility of statutory services in any circumstances, in line with the grant-making policies of the Community Foundation.

Social enterprises, community interest companies, and other non-charities should also take careful note of our application guidance notes.

Deadline for applications: 23 November 2026
