The Joicey Trust

The Joicey Trust supports registered and statutory charities across the North East of England and Scottish Borders with grants for revenue (including core funding) and capital expenditure.

Geographic Area

  • All NE and SR postcodes
  • Postcodes DH1-DH9
  • Scottish Borders

Who Can Apply

  • Registered or statutory charities
  • Unregistered charitable organisations (with a letter from a Local Infrastructure Organisation confirming they will receive the award on behalf of the organisation)

Not eligible:

  • Charities not registered within the beneficiary area with gross incoming resources exceeding £1 million
  • Individuals (except those sponsored by an international development charity)
  • Research projects or research costs within core funding applications

Grant Amount

Average grant size: £5,000

Maximum award rarely exceeds 10% of the claimed project costs.

What They Fund

Revenue costs including core funding and capital expenditure across a wide spectrum of charitable activities.

Important Conditions

Applicants must not incur expenses related to the application before receiving notification of the Trustees’ decision (normally within two weeks of the meeting). This does not apply to core funding applications.

Application Deadlines

Trustees meet twice yearly:

  • Late January/early February – Submit by 30 November
  • Late June/July – Submit by 31 May

Early applications are encouraged to allow time to resolve any queries before the deadlines.
