Who are Little1Stop?
Little1Stop is a registered charity based in North Shields that provides everyday essentials for babies, children and families facing financial hardship. Founded by Dawn Jobey during the Covid-19 pandemic, the charity works to ensure that every child has access to the items they need for the best possible start in life.
When Little1Stop was first established, VODA provided vital support to help the organisation become a registered charity. This guidance helped create strong foundations for the charity, enabling it to grow and continue supporting families across North Tyneside and beyond.
Ongoing Governance Support
As Little1Stop continued to develop its services, Dawn approached VODA for support with drafting safeguarding policies for both children and adults.
Having robust safeguarding policies in place was essential to ensuring the charity could continue delivering its services safely and effectively. VODA’s Governance Advisor, Rebecca Williams, worked closely with Dawn to develop the policies from scratch, providing practical advice, feedback and ongoing support throughout the process.
From reviewing drafts and suggesting improvements to answering questions and helping finalise the documents, Rebecca supported Little1Stop in strengthening its governance and meeting its responsibilities as a registered charity.
Reflecting on the support received, Dawn said:
“Your understanding and prompt replies, your understanding in my need of help and also your patience with me asking so many questions. Thank you.”
