ChurchCare Works

ChurchCare works with a range of grant-giving organisations to support the conservation of Anglican parish churches across England. The funding helps ensure that repair and conservation projects are carried out to a high standard, protecting important historic and cultural assets for future generations.

A range of grants are available covering different aspects of church heritage, from buildings and monuments to interiors and historic objects.

Available grants

Funding is currently available for:

  • Books and manuscripts
    Grants of up to £10,000 for conserving historic or significant books and manuscripts, including preventative measures such as conservation-grade storage.
  • Church plate
    Delivered in partnership with the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. No set grant value. Applications are encouraged as there were no submissions in the last round.
  • Churchyard structures
    Grants of up to £10,000 for conserving tombs, monuments, grave markers, walls, railings and gates.
  • Metalwork
    Grants of up to £10,000 for items such as screens, plaques and memorials. Applications are encouraged following low demand in the previous round.
  • Monuments
    Grants of up to £10,000 for historically or architecturally significant monuments.
  • Textiles
    Grants of up to £10,000 for conserving significant textiles.
  • Woodwork and wooden objects
    Grants of up to £10,000 for items such as pulpits, pews, crosses and screens.

Additional funding rounds

Applications are also being accepted for:

  • Bells and bell frames – deadline 22 June 2026
  • Stained glass – deadline 24 August 2026
  • Clocks – deadline 14 September 2026
  • Organs – deadline 5 October 2026

Anglican parish churches in England are eligible to apply. Churches planning conservation or repair projects are encouraged to review the available grants and consider how their work aligns with the funding criteria.
