Connecting Communities in the North West

North West Community Connector Event

On Wednesday October 16, over 60 organisations from the North West of the Borough, that have benefitted from UKSPF funding gathered at the White Swan Centre, Killingworth for the North West Community Connector event. To celebrate the success of the project and to come together to look at further investment into the area.

Attended by representatives of lead partner, North Tyneside Council as well as VODA and the North East Combined Authority, the networking event was designed to give groups an opportunity to establish lasting links with other grantees in the North West that will allow the programme’s legacy to thrive after the funding ends in March 2025.

During the event, it was revealed to attendees that 88 programmes across the Longbenton, Weetslade and Camperdown wards had so far been supported to the tune of over £1.2m. It was also announced that volunteers in the area will now be able to access up to three fully accredited training courses free of charge via VODA.

VODA Deputy Chief Executive, Keith Hardy said: “We are delighted with the success of the Community Connector Event – the feedback so far has been extremely positive. All the partners of this project are delighted with the impact it is having on the lives of people in the North West”.
