Energy Saving Trust: Energy Redress Scheme

A £40 million fund is now available to charities and community groups across England, Scotland, and Wales. The funding aims to support vulnerable energy consumers and deliver projects that help reduce carbon emissions.

About the Scheme

The Energy Redress Scheme prioritises:

  • Helping vulnerable people with energy bills.
  • Developing innovative energy-related products or services.
  • Empowering individuals to lower their carbon emissions.

Since its launch in 2018, the scheme has funded over 611 projects, allocating a total of £128 million.

Examples of Funded Projects

  • Impartial energy advice services for vulnerable people.
  • Research into ensuring that new energy technologies meet the needs of older and disabled people.
  • Initiatives encouraging whole-house energy upgrades.
  • Trials of new business models or solutions to help households use more locally generated energy.

Available Funding Streams

Four funding streams are open for applications:

  1. The Main Fund
    • Total available: £27 million.
    • For grants between £50,000 and £2 million.
    • Supports projects helping households in vulnerable situations.
  2. The Small Project Fund
    • Total available: £1 million.
    • For grants between £20,000 and £49,999.
    • Supports smaller projects assisting vulnerable households.
  3. The Innovation Fund
    • Total available: £6 million.
    • For grants between £20,000 and £1 million.
    • Focused on developing new products or services to benefit households.
  4. The Carbon Emissions Reduction Fund
    • Total available: £6 million.
    • For grants between £20,000 and £1 million.
    • Supports projects that reduce UK carbon emissions and help households lower their carbon footprint.

Key Information

  • Grant amounts: £20,000 to £2 million.
  • Deadline: 5pm on 15 January 2025.
  • Eligibility: Organisations must be registered to apply. Those not yet registered must do so at least 10 working days before the application deadline.
