New Fundraising Code: What You Need to Know Before November

A group of people sitting indoors, gathered around a laptop, engaged in discussion and looking at the screen. The setting includes a wall in the background, and various individuals are wearing different clothing styles while focused on the computer.

In this edition of the Governance Blog, we’re reminding VCSE organisations that the new Code of Fundraising Practice will come into effect on 1 November 2025.

The Fundraising Regulator has published a revised version of the Code, designed to be clearer, more concise, and easier to navigate. It reflects a more modern and adaptable approach to fundraising standards and is significantly shorter than the previous version.

You can read the new Code here: Code of Fundraising Practice 2025

This is a great time for charities and community groups to familiarise themselves with the updated Code and ensure they’re ready for the changes ahead.

To support organisations, the Regulator has also published three helpful guides on:

  • Documenting your fundraising decisions
  • Due diligence and fundraising
  • Monitoring fundraising partners

These guides offer practical advice and are well worth a read to help you apply the Code in your day-to-day work.

If you’d like further guidance on the new Code—or support with governance more generally—VODA is here to help. We offer advice, training, and one-to-one support for VCSE groups.
