Rewilding Innovation Fund

The Rewilding Innovation Fund supports projects that can accelerate rewilding across Britain. Open to initiatives at any stage—from early planning to trialling new approaches—the fund offers up to £15,000 to help projects overcome barriers, explore new ideas and unlock future investment.

Who Can Apply

Projects must be:

  • Based in England, Scotland or Wales
  • Cover 40+ hectares of contiguous land, or be any size for marine rewilding
  • Part of the Rewilding Network (joining at application is allowed)
  • Rewilding at scale and aligned with Rewilding Britain’s principles

What the Fund Supports

The fund backs work such as:

  • Feasibility studies and business planning
  • Community engagement
  • Trialling new tools or technology
  • Activities that help projects progress along the rewilding scale

Key Details

  • Applications close: 28 February
  • Two funding rounds each year (new year & summer)
  • Over £970k awarded to 79 projects since 2021

Rewilding Britain prioritises applications with strong potential to benefit both people and nature, on land or at sea. Examples of past projects include white‑tailed eagle studies, coastal restoration and drone-based habitat surveying.
