Spring Family Volunteering Challenge

Spring Family Volunteering with clouds and grass and flowers

We’re pleased to share a new Spring Family Volunteering Booklet created by VODA volunteer Ellie Avery. It offers simple, enjoyable ways for families to spend time together while supporting the local community.

The booklet includes a mix of indoor and outdoor ideas such as making cards, creating friendship bracelets, building bird feeders, making seed balls, litter picking, and visiting Little Libraries. Each activity is designed to be easy to follow and suitable for a range of ages, with guidance on keeping children safe during crafts and outdoor tasks.

It also highlights national events and charities that welcome family involvement, including The Big Lunch, The Great Big Green Week and the Great British Beach Clean, along with organisations such as the RSPCA, RSPB, Surfers Against Sewage and the British Red Cross.

Alongside the booklet, families can download our Spring Volunteer Challenge activity sheet, where children can tick off or colour in tasks as they complete them.

Both the booklet and the activity sheet are available below, and you can download them as PDFs.
