A brand new service, focused on the North Shields and Wallsend areas, will see the team reaching the community via local groups and organisations.
The team want to support people in those areas to reduce their risk of getting cancer, recognise the symptoms early and know when to see a doctor.
It is aiming to raise awareness of cancer screening programmes and provide information and support to those looking to improve their health – including by stopping smoking, reducing their alcohol intake or reducing their weight. The service is free and can provide:
- Workshops to train your staff and volunteers
- One-to-one advice on healthier lifestyles
- A Stop Smoking Service
- Leaflets and display materials for venues
- Staffed information stalls at events
