The B&Q Foundation

UK charities and community groups working to improve homes, community buildings or outdoor spaces can apply for funding through the B&Q Foundation Grant Programme.

The B&Q Foundation offers grants of up to £5,000 to UK-registered charities and not-for-profit organisations that support vulnerable people through housing-related projects. This includes work that provides safe, warm, accessible spaces for individuals and communities affected by:

  • Poor or unsafe living conditions
  • Homelessness
  • Financial hardship
  • Limited access to suitable community facilities

What Type of Projects Does the B&Q Foundation Fund?

The foundation supports a wide range of practical, community-focused initiatives that make a real difference to people’s living environments. Previously funded projects include:

  • Renovating kitchens or bathrooms in supported housing
  • Improving accessibility for disabled people
  • Refurbishing community halls, shelters, or centres
  • Creating safe and welcoming outdoor spaces for vulnerable groups

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for a B&Q Foundation grant, your organisation must demonstrate a clear and measurable impact on people in need through improvements to homes or community spaces. Funding can support both internal building work and external renovations.

Applications are welcomed from:

  • Charities
  • Community interest companies (CICs)
  • Local community groups (with appropriate governance)

How to Apply

Applications are accepted via the B&Q Foundation’s online portal on a rolling basis. Due to high demand, organisations are encouraged to apply as early as possible within the relevant funding window.
