The Rayne Foundation supports UK charities working to create lasting social change through innovative and collaborative approaches.

Funding Priority Areas

The Foundation funds work that directly benefits:

Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing – Supporting care experienced children and young people, those on the edge of care, or leaving care. The Foundation is currently funding a wide range of interventions and is no longer seeking new applications in this area.

Refugees and Asylum Seekers – Creating opportunities in employability, entrepreneurship, and personal development. Using arts and creative projects to build community connections between migrants and the wider community.

People in Later Life and Their Carers – Funding projects that reimagine community care provision, particularly work that is collaborative, connects care services, increases agency and voice, or embeds creativity and the arts in care delivery.

Grant Amounts

Grants typically range between £10,000 and £30,000 per year, with average grant sizes increasing in recent years. The Foundation usually makes multi-year grants to reflect the time needed to address complex social issues.

What They Fund

The Foundation looks for work that:

  • Approaches issues differently and enables innovation
  • Has potential for wider application beyond the immediate project
  • Is informed by direct delivery with clear positive impact
  • Can demonstrate match-funding contributions
  • Enables collaboration and develops best practice

Eligibility

Applications are accepted from voluntary, statutory, and for-profit organisations working in the UK. Organisations must demonstrate why Foundation funding is needed and commit their own resources proportionate to their capacity.

How to Apply

The application process begins with an Expression of Interest. Successful applicants are then invited to submit a full application. A typical application takes 4-6 months to complete.
