Trusthouse Charitable Foundation: Small Grants

funding opportunity is available for small charities and community organisations delivering frontline support. The Small Grants programme offers one-year grants between £2,000 and £10,000 to cover core costs, salaries, running expenses, and project costs.

Who Can Apply?

Organisations must meet the following criteria:

  • Be located in an area of high deprivation (bottom 15% in urban areas or bottom 50% in rural areas on the Indices of Multiple Deprivation).
  • Have a community support focus.
  • Have an annual income of £250,000 or less.
  • Secure 50% of total project costs from other sources.
  • Provide their most recent annual accounts.
  • Be embedded in their local community.
  • Be able to start using the grant within 1–2 months of receipt.

What Will Be Funded?

The fund prioritises frontline organisations working directly with people in need. Grants can cover salaries, core running costs, and project expenses but not capital projects. New work may be considered if it builds logically on existing services. The fund does not support campaigning, organisational development, or capacity building.

Application Process

Successful applicants can reapply for up to three consecutive years. No further applications can be made after completing a third grant.

Before applying, organisations must:

  1. Read the Small Grants Funding Guidelines.
  2. Complete the eligibility quiz, which provides an initial indication of eligibility.
  3. Refer to the Small Grants Application Guidance for details on the application process.
