Tyne & Wear High Sheriff’s Awards Fund

The Tyne & Wear High Sheriff’s Awards are made to voluntary and community organisations and registered charities based and working in Tyne and Wear. Applicants must focus their work with children and young people aged 10 to 25 years old.

An application could be for a specific project, to purchase equipment or towards the running costs of your organisation.

The application should demonstrate how your organisation in relation to children and young people:

  • encourages them to make positive contributions to their community, diverts them from antisocial behaviour or crime, and encourages them to be positive role models
  • helps them overcome disadvantage, promote life chances and realise potential
  • helps them develop self-confidence and interpersonal skills
  • provides skills, training and employment opportunities
  • encourages the development of volunteers and volunteering.

The organisations are celebrated together at an awards ceremony, which highlights the huge impact they make to the lives of young people.

Maximum Grant: £1,000

Deadline for applications: 20 October 2025

Please note the High Sheriff panel meeting is scheduled for December 2025, and therefore, applicants will be notified in late December or early in the New Year.
