North Tyneside Safeguarding Adults Board (NTSAB) has completed a review of a number of key safeguarding policies, procedures and briefings to ensure guidance remains current, clear and effective. These updates reflect learning from practice, audit activity and national developments, and are intended to support professionals working with adults with care and support needs. All previous versions should now be replaced with the updated documents linked below.
- Person in Position of Trust Framework – A light-touch review has been completed. This framework is to be used where there are concerns raised about a person who works with or cares for adults with care and support needs
- Exploitation Policy and Procedure – A full review has taken place. The policy now includes guidance on mapping exploitation and an exploitation checklist to support identification.
- Female Genital Mutilation briefing – A light touch review has been completed. This briefing raises awareness of this abuse type and collates available resources.
- Reporting Crime to Police briefing – This new briefing supports practitioners with decision-making around suspected crimes. The briefing was developed as a result of audit findings, where safeguarding activity was underway, linked to suspected crimes which had not been reported to the police.
- Adult Exploitation Language Guidance – This guide aims to support professionals to use accurate, non-blaming terminology, recognising the impact of coercion and control.
- Adult AU Safeguarding Adult Review briefing – This briefing provides an overview of the safeguarding adult review, the learning, and gives tips on how we can all improve our practice.
- Adult BC briefing – This briefing supports learning around record keeping, professional curiosity, mental capacity, and escalation.
All updated policies, procedures and resources are available on the North Tyneside Safeguarding Adults Board website at www.NTSAB.org. Practitioners and organisations are asked to ensure these updates are shared with relevant staff and appropriately embedded into day‑to‑day practice to support effective safeguarding and promote consistent decision‑making across the borough.
