VODA’s Annual General Meeting and Awards took place on Tuesday 11 November 2025, bringing together volunteers, community groups, partners and supporters for a morning of reflection, recognition and connection.
Hosted at the Spirit of North Tyneside, the event offered a chance to look back on another year of impact and to celebrate the dedication of North Tyneside’s voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
Highlights From the Day
The morning began with a warm welcome from VODA Chief Executive, Vicky Smith, who shared updates on the organisation’s work and thanked everyone for their continued support.
Attendees also heard from Jackie Laughton, Chief Executive of North Tyneside Council, whose keynote speech reflected on the strong partnership between the council and the local VCSE sector, and the vital role that partnership plays in supporting communities across the borough.
The event paused at 11am to observe a two-minute silence for Remembrance Day, giving everyone a moment to reflect together.
VODA’s Senior Finance Manager, Julie Eastlake, presented the annual accounts before members voted to reappoint trustees and auditors.
We also shared our AGM video, a short film highlighting VODA’s work over the past year in supporting the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector and volunteers across North Tyneside.
Told through the voices of the people and organisations we’ve worked alongside, it showcases the projects, partnerships and stories that demonstrate the strength and impact of our local voluntary sector.
Attendees then heard from Rachel Anderson, who shared her inspiring volunteer journey, before the room turned its attention to one of the highlights of the morning – the VODA VCSE Awards.
