How we support your volunteers

If you already involve volunteers – or are just getting started – our Volunteer Centre can help you recruit, support and retain volunteers in your organisation or group in North Tyneside.

We offer:

  • Promotion of your volunteering roles to local people.
  • One‑to‑one support on policies, procedures and best practice.
  • Practical tools, training and peer support.

Promote your volunteering opportunities

We provide free support to promote your volunteering roles, including an online, searchable database of opportunities and regular promotion via our communications and Volunteer Centre channels. Register your organisation and roles via the buttons below.

If you already advertise with Newcastle Volunteer Centre, tell us and we can obtain your role information from them.

If you need help completing the forms, contact the Volunteer Centre team and we can support you.

Build good practice in your organisation

We can work with you to strengthen how you involve volunteers, including:

  • One‑to‑one advice on creating or updating volunteering roles, policies and procedures.

  • Practical Volunteering Guides to support you to develop your volunteering practice and documentation.

  • An Organisation Health Check tool that helps you understand what you’re doing well and where you could improve, including how you support your volunteers.

We are happy to talk through the Health Check with you and discuss next steps for your organisation.

North Tyneside Volunteer Network

The North Tyneside Volunteer Network is a quarterly peer support group for organisations that involve volunteers.

  • Hear about local and national developments in volunteering.

  • Make connections with other groups.

Vision for Volunteering

The Vision for Volunteering is a UK‑wide partnership that sets out how volunteering needs to evolve in the coming years.

It focuses on five themes:

  • Awareness and appreciation

  • Power

  • Equity and inclusion

  • Collaboration

  • Experimentation

Free training and resources

We’ve brought together a list of places where you can access free online training for staff and volunteers.
