Biffa Award Partnership Grants Scheme

The 2026 Partnership Grants Scheme is now open for Expressions of Interest for large‑scale projects seeking £250,000 to £1,000,000. Charities working within either the Built Environment or Natural Environment themes can apply at this stage.

Built Environment projects should focus on restoring, modernising or improving facilities such as cultural, heritage or visitor centres. Applicants need to show how the site holds regional or national significance, how it is inclusive, and how it will encourage creativity and participation among visitors. Facilities must also be open to the public for at least 104 days per year.

Natural Environment projects should support species, habitats and natural processes. This includes work that protects and restores biodiversity, strengthens functioning ecosystems and helps landscapes adapt to pressures such as climate change. Projects must also align with national Environmental Improvement Plans, legally binding targets, or priorities set out in Local Nature Recovery Strategies.

Organisations must meet strict eligibility criteria, including being a charitable or not‑for‑profit organisation without share capital, and ensuring the project meets regulatory requirements. Projects must fall clearly within a single theme, have full match funding secured, meet location requirements, and have relevant permissions in place before submitting an Expression of Interest.

Preference will be given to projects where Biffa Award is the majority funder, where partnership working is demonstrated, where public engagement is strong and where environmental sustainability is embedded throughout delivery.

Organisations may submit multiple Expressions of Interest, but only one full application will be invited per organisation.

How to Apply and Key Deadlines

Expressions of Interest must be submitted by 29 May 2026, 5pm.
Outcomes will be shared in late August 2026.
Full application outcomes (for those invited forward) will be announced in mid‑December 2026 or mid‑February 2027.
