Who are Panama Swimming Club?

Panama Swimming Club (PSC) has been part of Whitley Bay’s coastal community since 1930. Based on the Promenade, the club celebrates the North Sea as its heart and home.

PSC is a non-competitive, non-selective club that welcomes swimmers of all abilities – from occasional dippers to regular sea swimmers. Organised swims take place four times a week, with members ranging in age from their 30s to over 90.

VODA’s Support

Di Fisher Naylor, Chair of PSC’s Funding Group, shared:

“Debby was very knowledgeable and responsive. I was impressed with the support and advice provided. Her awareness of funding opportunities was very up to date.”

Support provided by VODA included:

  • Advice on organisational structure

  • Signposting to potential funders

  • Reviewing draft applications

As a result, PSC secured grants from RW Mann Trust and Cash4Clubs to improve their clubhouse and has now become a Community Interest Company.
