Central Social and Recreational Trust

The Central Social and Recreational Trust aims to improve opportunities for young people in England by supporting sports clubs that work with those under the age of 21, particularly where poverty may limit access to recreational or leisure activities.

The Trust offers grants—typically up to £1,500—to help clubs purchase shared equipment or carry out maintenance on facilities they own or hold on a long‑term lease.

To be eligible, clubs must be affiliated with their relevant national governing body and able to demonstrate genuine need. Funding is not available for personal items such as clothing or individual protective equipment. All awards are paid directly to suppliers, meaning applicants must provide written quotations or invoices.

Applications are assessed on the social and economic circumstances of the young people benefiting, as well as the club’s efforts to secure support from other sources. As funding is limited, the Trust cannot guarantee support for all applicants.
