Football Foundation – Lionesses HERe to Play Fund

The Football Foundation is offering grants to help create inclusive and welcoming grassroots football facilities for women and girls across England. Supported by Lionesses, The FA, the Premier League and the UK Government, the fund aims to increase access and participation in football for females of all ages.

What the fund supports
Eligible projects include improvements such as:

  • Changing rooms, toilets, showers and breastfeeding/baby-change areas

  • Covered outdoor spaces, external lighting, signage and CCTV

  • Facilities designed to make women and girls feel safe, welcome and able to thrive in football

Grant size & match funding

  • Grants from £1,500 up to £25,000

  • The fund may cover up to 75 % of total project costs, with applicants contributing at least 25 % as match funding

Who can apply
Applicants include: not-for-profit football clubs, voluntary groups, local authorities, County FAs, professional club community organisations, educational establishments (community access), registered charities, CICs, social enterprises and companies limited by guarantee

Key conditions

  • Applicants should have a women’s and girls’ development plan for their site and must engage with The FA’s Equal Game programme.

  • For building-type projects, a minimum of 5 years’ security of tenure is required.

  • Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis (no fixed deadline published).
