Grant Funding – Locality Neighbourhood Planning

Local communities in England can apply for grants of up to £18,000 and technical support to help them develop neighbourhood plans. A neighbourhood plan is a community-driven initiative that allows residents to shape the future development of their area, including housing.

The Neighbourhood Planning Support Programme, administered by Locality on behalf of the UK government, helps local councils and neighbourhood forums to cover the costs associated with preparing a neighbourhood plan or neighbourhood development order, such as:

  • housing surveys
  • venue hire
  • website development
  • specialist studies
  • the costs associated with planning, public engagement and consulting

Professional planning support is also available when communities need additional or specialist expertise.

Applications can be submitted anytime, and any grants awarded must be spent by the 31st March 2025.
