Green Community Grant Scheme

The Green Community Grants scheme, established in 2025 by The Wildlife Trusts with funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery and Postcode Green Trust, is now open for its latest funding round.

The programme offers flexible, one-year grants of up to £25,000 to support projects that protect and improve the natural environment.

What the fund supports

Funding is available for organisations whose work aligns with one or more of the following themes:

  • Contributing to nature recovery and responding to the climate emergency
  • Improving nature-rich spaces and increasing access to them

Grants can support a wide range of environmentally focused activities, including recycling initiatives, litter picking, beach cleans and sustainable transport projects.

Who can apply

Applications are open to not-for-profit organisations based in England, Scotland and Wales that:

  • Have an annual income between £10,000 and £1 million
  • Have been operating for at least 12 months
  • Can provide signed annual accounts
  • Hold a UK bank account with two unrelated signatories

Organisations can apply for a maximum of 25% of their annual income.

Priority groups

Due to high demand, priority will be given to organisations that:

  • Have an income of £250,000 or less
  • Work in communities within the top 15% of the Index of Multiple Deprivation
  • Focus on supporting marginalised groups, including disabled people, communities experiencing racial inequity, and LGBT+ people

About the funding

This funding is designed to be flexible, helping organisations strengthen their work and increase their impact in local communities.

There are three funding rounds in 2026.
Round two is open from 24 June to 15 July 2026.
