The Boring Fund: £200 Grants for Small Charities and Community Groups

Applications are now open for The Boring Fund, which offers £200 grants to help small charities, CICs and voluntary groups cover those boring but essential costs that keep them running — like insurance, web hosting, admin time or accountancy.

The fund is designed to make things simple, fair and accessible, removing red tape and paperwork. The application takes just five minutes, and there are no reporting requirements.

Who can apply

The Boring Fund is open to small UK-based not-for-profit organisations that:

  • Operate primarily within the UK

  • Have a UK bank account in the organisation’s name

  • Have an annual turnover under £150,000

  • Have little or no core or multi-year funding

  • Have few or no paid staff or fundraising support

Eligible organisations include:

  • Charities

  • Community Interest Companies (CICs)

  • Limited companies (not-for-profit)

  • Constituted community or voluntary groups

The fund cannot support individuals, schools, PTAs, or for-profit businesses that distribute profits to directors or shareholders.

What you can apply for

Grants are for boring but essential costs such as:

  • Insurance or accountancy fees

  • Web hosting or software costs

  • Admin or office time

  • Training or compliance costs

The Boring Fund will not support project delivery, for-profit activity, religious promotion, alcohol, or costs already paid for.

  • Selection: Random draw with eligibility checks

  • Notification date: by Friday 19 December

About the fund

The Boring Fund was created by Christina, who works with small non-profits to make funding more accessible. It began as a personal initiative and has grown into a collective effort supported by over 50 individual donors. All funds are managed through Creative Sustainability CIC, which has waived its admin fees to ensure 100% of the money goes directly to grantees.

Apply by midnight on 30 November using the short online form at Boring Fund | Christina Poulton
