The Playschemes Fund

The Playschemes Fund supports activities for children and young people who would otherwise be excluded from summer holiday playschemes across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland. Grants of up to £8,000 are available for playschemes that cannot access government funding, as well as to enable government-funded schemes to extend provision to individuals that might otherwise be excluded.

Preference will be given to applications from areas of above-average deprivation that offer (preferably) nutritious food and provide a range of regular educational and leisure/physical opportunities.

Important development for 2025:

Applications will only be considered from playschemes that deliver the ‘4x4x4’ model as a minimum (i.e. the provision of sessions for AT LEAST four hours per day, for four days per week, across four weeks) for EVERY participant. This is to ensure that all beneficiaries are provided with sufficient support to address holiday hunger and reduce the likelihood of falling behind their peers by the start of the new school year in September.

Deadline: 12 May 2025
