The Tyne & Wear High Sheriff’s Awards

The Tyne & Wear High Sheriff’s Awards are made to voluntary and community organisations and registered charities based and working in Tyne and Wear. Applicants must focus their work with children and young people aged 10 to 25 years old.

An application could be for a specific project, to purchase equipment or towards the running costs of your organisation.

The application should demonstrate how your organisation in relation to children and young people:

  • encourages them to make positive contributions to their community
  • encourages them to be positive role models
  • helps them overcome disadvantage, promote life chances and realise potential
  • helps them develop self-confidence and interpersonal skills
  • provides skills, training and employment opportunities
  • encourages the development of volunteers and volunteering.

The organisations are celebrated together at an awards ceremony which highlights the huge impact they make to the lives of young people.
