Volunteers’ Week 2025: How You Can Make a Difference in North Tyneside

Looking to meet new people, learn new skills or give something back to your community?

This Volunteers’ Week (2–8 June), there are lots of ways to get involved and make a difference in North Tyneside – whether you have an hour to spare or more time to offer. From in-person roles to virtual support, one-off opportunities or regular commitments, there’s something to suit everyone.

Join the Virtual Volunteer Fair

Our Virtual Volunteer Fair is a brilliant starting point if you’re new to volunteering or just curious about what’s out there. Hear from local organisations including Cats Protection, Action Tutoring, HostNation, Good Neighbours and St Oswald’s Hospice. You’ll also get tips on how to use the Get Volunteering website to browse and apply for roles.

Pop in for a Chat – No Booking Needed

If you prefer a face-to-face conversation, come along to one of our drop-in sessions and speak to the friendly team from the North Tyneside Volunteer Centre. They’ll help you explore what’s available and answer any questions you might have.

  • North Shields Library – Thursday 5 June, 12–2

Not Ready to Volunteer Yet? Here’s How You Can Still Make a Difference

Even if you’re not quite ready to commit to a role, there are lots of other ways to support Volunteers’ Week and your local community:

  • Say thank you to someone you know who volunteers – even a small message of appreciation can mean a lot.
  • Share your volunteering story on social media to inspire others.
  • Spread the word about local opportunities and events.
  • Support a local cause with a donation, or offer your time for a one-off task or event.
  • Try micro-volunteering – small, informal acts like litter picking, helping a neighbour, or donating to a food bank.
  • Encourage your workplace, school or group to get involved in community action.
