Children’s Isolation Hampers

Christmas treat bags

Students from Newcastle University’s Geography school teamed up with VODA to create isolation activity packs for children in North Tyneside who have been shielding at home and unable to return to school.

The students, with a little help from a local schoolgirl who gave up her afternoon to volunteer, spent a busy afternoon putting together almost 200 eco bags filled with sweets, arts and crafts, bath bombs and more. The students also included a letter to each child, signed by them all.

The finished bags were then kindly delivered by volunteers from local business such as Angela and Dave from Carney Consultancy, Richard, Lynne, Tracey and Justine from Greggs and Kris from Insure the Box. Watch the video to see some of the amazing feedback.
