Roots & Routes Fund

The Roots & Routes Fund, managed by The Blagrave Trust in partnership with several key organisations, is now open for applications. This fund aims to support youth-led organisations fighting for climate justice across England. With a focus on empowering young people, the fund provides grants of up to £20,000 to help organisations create meaningful change within their communities and advocate for climate justice. The fund is designed to support organisations led by individuals aged 18–30, with at least 55% of the leadership within this age group.

Who is eligible to apply?

The Roots & Routes Fund is specifically for youth-led organisations that meet the following criteria:

  • Based in England, with the majority of their work carried out within the country.

  • Led by at least 55% individuals aged 18-30, with youth representation also present in board or trustee positions.

  • Organisations that represent communities most impacted by climate injustice, such as racial minorities, disabled people, LGBTQIA+ communities, working-class groups, and women.

  • Must have a minimum of three people in leadership roles.

  • Organisations with an annual revenue between £10,000 and £500,000.

This fund seeks to support projects that tackle systemic barriers and empower young people to lead the way in climate justice action. Projects could include advocacy, training, research, or other creative approaches that challenge existing systems and drive long-term change. The fund is not intended for educational costs, religious activities, or for organisations based outside of England.

How to apply and important deadlines

Organisations wishing to apply must complete the Stage One application by 23:59 PM on Monday, 2nd June 2025. Successful applicants will be invited to a call in June to discuss their projects and leadership in greater detail. The final decisions will be communicated on 4th July 2025.
