SAINT (Social Action in North Tyneside)

The SAINT (Social Action in North Tyneside) project supports people facing barriers to volunteering to come together and create social action projects for the benefit of the wider community.

About

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, the three year SAINT project aims to overcome the barriers which people with mental health problems, long-term health conditions or who are long-term unemployed face to volunteering by bringing them together and supporting them to carry out social action projects in their community. This will include long and short term projects around a range of issues.

How it works

We wil recruit, train and support teams of volunteers to plan and deliver projecs that will make a positive difference in their local communities, whilst increasing the skills, confidence and well-being of those taking part.

Social action projects can include events, campaigns, awareness raising, practical support, creative projects and everything in between, and they can be both long and short term in length. We currently we have projects underway around art and inclusivity in the community, cookery, gardening, getting young people’s voices hear, homelessness and bereavement.

  • As a volunteer facilitator: If you would like to help SAINT volunteers to plan and deliver their projects, or have an area of expertise you'd like to share, we'd love to hear from you

  • If your group or organisation could use the help of a team of volunteers or you have an idea for where a social action project could really make a difference, let us know
