About Building Futures East

Building Futures East is a registered charity located on Walker Riverside in the East End of Newcastle. Established in 2007, we work with people in the 20% most disadvantaged communities North of Tyne. We take a “people and place” based approach to our work, improving the quality of life and opportunity for individuals whilst supporting fragile communities in building their social and economic resilience.
We have developed a thriving community garden, providing opportunity and a safe space for community members to meet, make friends and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of gardening and the environment. Our community regeneration work centres around engaging with community members, listening to their aspirations, both personal and for the area they reside in, helping them to develop impactful, sustainable community assets that positively impact upon their lives and circumstances.

Additionally, our food bank operates from our main site and is where we coordinate weekly deliveries of food parcels to families in Walker and Byker. We rely upon a dedicated team of volunteers who support us across the breadth of our work and always welcome offers of support to aid us in reaching those most vulnerable and in greatest need.
