Membership Volunteer
The charity would like to welcome new volunteers to the group to assist in its campaigns (including World Mental Health Day) to reduce the stigma and discrimination often experienced by people with mental health problems.
About Altering Images of Mentality (AIM) Group
Mission
To enable and empower the local community to address all issues surrounding mental health in an effort to tackle discrimination and to reduce the stigma felt by people with mental health problems.
Activities
Campaigning, co-coordinating, motivating, enabling, supporting, advising, sharing ideas and good practice around mental health activities
Focusing awareness on positive images of mental health
Providing for educational activities, for example lectures, courses, seminars, conferences etc
Enabling people in the mental health field to meet, eg statutory agencies, voluntary agencies, service users, carers
Liaising with the media to reinforce positive mental health images and challenge negative messages.
What skills do I need?
No previous experience, specific skills or qualifications in the field of mental health is necessary. Empathy for vulnerable adults and a belief in equal opportunities is necessary.
