The post is a key member of the Trust's Executive Team and of the Trust Committee. The post will be responsible for overseeing the Trust's financial position and making decisions in conjunction with the other members of the Executive Team. The post will contribute to discussions at the quarterly meetings and to provide an annual report to the AGM (normally in June). The post may also be required to join sub-committees which are established on an occasional basis to discuss key issues.

About Square Building Trust

The Square Building Trust is a social housing provider, mainly in the North Shields area. We provide general housing and some specialist housing for adults with additional needs. The Trust was created in 1929 in response to the poor housing available at the time. The Trust was begun by the congregation of St Columba's Church enabling it to build some family houses in central North Shields through the sale of shilling 'bricks' by the members of the male and female bible class members. The Trust's properties are managed on it's behalf by Bernicia and it retains close links to St Columba's URC.

What skills do I need?

The post holder would be required to have had financial experience at a senior level - preferably in a managerial post. Although in-depth knowledge of the social housing sector is not essential it would be helpful to have some knowledge.

Availability Details

The Committee meets four times a year plus an AGM. The post will also require liaison before meetings with our Managing Agent's (Bernicia) finance team and auditors (prior to AGM).
