Volunteer Lead
v Chair and lead the Regional Volunteering Technical Support Group.
v Lead on the development of a regional volunteer strategy, ensuring it compliments and contributes to the England Netball Volunteering strategy.
v Help to devise a Volunteering Pathway that nurtures the next generation of leaders in netball.
v Lead on the regional volunteer celebration event alongside EN staff, ensuring it adheres to national celebration event timelines.
v Act as the initial point of contact for current and potential volunteers, identifying roles for volunteers that suit their skills, interest, and availability.
v Act as an ambassador and advocate for netball and the region; providing support and guidance on volunteering to the Region’s members, clubs and leagues where appropriate.
v Recognise and reward volunteer dedication and success, and encourage the nomination of volunteers to local, regional and national awards.
v Maintain a log with the details of active volunteers within the region, in compliance with GDPR.
v Support EN’s and the Region’s diversity and belonging objectives, and to help facilitate the growth of a diverse volunteer base that is reflective of the Region’s demographic.
v Assist in the recruitment of volunteers for regional TSGs/WGs where required.
v Challenge and work towards the elimination of any discrimination whether by reason of age, gender, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status or civil partnership race, nationality, ethnicity (race), religion or belief, ability or disability, pregnancy and maternity and encourage equal opportunities in all aspects of netball.
v Be a voting member on the RMB.
v Support the development of the regional youth volunteer group and act as a point of contact for their queries and ideas.
About North East Netball
The overall aim of the North East Region is to provide access to lifelong netball opportunities through the development of participation, partnerships and quality support systems. We aim to complete this vision, by introducing new players to the game of netball and sustaining their participation, encourage volunteers to help out with all aspects of netball, from event organisation right through to umpiring, there are opportunities for you to get involved.
Overall we are a passionate region, who wants to give the very best to the people living within it. We want to raise awareness of netball, and get as many people as we can playing the game.
What skills do I need?
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
v Be a member of England Netball and have a sound understanding and knowledge of netball.
v Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
v Strong leadership and people management skills.
v Good IT skills (Including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher).
v Ability to be flexible and work with volunteers from diverse backgrounds to build and maintain effective networks.
v Behave impartially at all times.
v Knowledge and experience of volunteer development.
v Take an interest in and respect the viewpoints of others.
v Access to email and telephone.
v An awareness of the national, regional and county netball structures.
v Personal experience in volunteering whether that be in netball, sport or another community, not-for profit organisation.
v Knowledge of the wider sporting and volunteer landscape.
v Knowledge of wider sport volunteering initiatives and relevant organisations.
v Good understanding of social media channels, audiences and content creation software.
